The Antonelli Park
The Antonelli Park is situated North-East from the Center of Civitavecchia; from the Mondonna on Viale Guido Bacelli move in the direction of the Aurelia and then turn into Via Montanucci. It is a fairly big park which lately has changed aspect thanks to the notable work carried out by the Municipality to make it more attractive and improve its functions. The park facilities are composed of two large areas separated by a beautiful covered avenue. The first area, located at the beginning, is characterized by two spaces, the first space, which is cordoned off by a reticular wall, is adapted for dogs and opens out to the right of the avenue, near the Via Montanucci entrance to the park.
Looking to the left of this avenue there is another space that is surrounded by greenery and houses subsidiary Municipal facilities. To the right of this avenue, looking towards the sea, there is another park area, the larger one. This area that is exclusively dedicated to the recreation of all those children who flock here in large numbers every day, accompanied by their families.
Like the first area, this one too is divided into two spaces. In the first space there is a beautiful fountain and to one side of it there is a hill built especially for mountain bike activities; lastly, at the extreme opposite side to via Montanucci, there are pleasant refreshment facilities, made up of a bar and a pizza shop, built on a pebble terrain. The remaining part of this first space is free, green and very extensive. The last area of this park, the one towards the sea, is adorned by a small and gracious pine forest where, especially in Summer, many elderly citizens rest on the benches provided and in front of which there is a small bicycle track.
It should be remembered that, especially in summer, many festivals are held here, including political festivals like that of the "Unità".
